Are you interested in studying abroad and learning a language in the process? The Office of Global & National Fellowships is hosting an info session for the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) on October 6, 2026 from 4:00-5:00 PM on Zoom.

CLS is a fully funded program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State that provides intensive overseas language and cultural immersion for U.S. students at any stage in their undergraduate or graduate careers. Students spend eight weeks abroad studying one of nine critical languages including: Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, orSwahili.

Many languages offered by the CLS Program do not require applicants to have any previous experience studying critical languages! The program includes language instruction and structured cultural engagement experiences designed to promote rapid language gains.

At the Oct. 6th information session, hosted by the Office of Global and National Fellowships, advisors will go over the program details, including eligibility criteria and application tips, as well as answer student questions.
