Details

Could you present your dissertation in just three minutes? The Three-Minute Thesis (3MT®) is an internationally recognized competition that challenges doctoral candidates to share their research clearly and engagingly for a general audience—using only one slide.

At Mizzou, 3MT® is more than a competition. Participants receive training in storytelling, scriptwriting, and public speaking performance, along with practice sessions and feedback to prepare for the event. The first-place winner will receive $500 in professional development funds and the opportunity to represent Mizzou at the regional 3MT® competition.

Eligibility & Requirements
To participate, you must:

  • Be a doctoral candidate

  • Attend in-person training sessions on Wednesday afternoons (3:00 p.m.) throughout October

  • Compete in the 3MT® competition on Wednesday, November 19, 2025

Join us at this info session on Friday, September 12 at 12:00 p.m. in 111F Townsend Hall (Grad Hub) to learn more about how to participate. Lunch will be provided.
