"two A words" - Poem

This is one of my first poems that I've ever paired with a graphic. I always viewed paintings and poems as two different things, but they're both just forms of expression. This poem was a spur of the moment piece as I watched TikToks about the evolution of dance and singing. Most every form of art we know today comes from Black/African culture and rarely are we given credit. I chose the words "appreciate" and "appropriate" because many people just throw them around pretty loosely. Most people don't understand the difference between the two, and I hope this poem was able to clarify.

Since this poem, I've put a few more poems to graphics and it's been a fun process. You can see more of anything I write on Instagram @wordsfromnadia!
