Details
Every year over 600 dedicated poll workers (officially known as election judges) make democracy work in Boone County—and get paid to do it! Civic volunteers from across the county set up and operate polling places, assist voters, and maintain the integrity of our elections. Their service ensures every eligible Boone County voter can make their voice heard on Election Day.
Qualifications:
• Over 18 years old;
• Registered to vote in Missouri;
• Able to read, write, and speak English fluently;
• Completion of mandatory training before each election; and,
• Experience using technology, particularly iPads, preferred
Compensation:
• Election judge pay starts at $170
• Election judge supervisor pay starts at $200 (requires additional training)
• Training pay is $50 (contingent on working Election Day)
(You may choose to donate your earnings and your hours will count as pro bono.)
Time Commitment:
• Attend a training session on October 19th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in Room 109
• Service on Election Day: Election judges report to their assigned polling place at 4:30am and leave after all poll closing duties have been completed after the polls close at 7pm
Those participating in the training should be willing to commit to working on election day.
Attendance is limited to 25 - register today! Register on MU Engage by midnight, Sunday, Oct. 18 so we may have an accurate count for the food order.
Dinner will be provided for those registering by the Oct. 18 deadline and participants will earn one Professional Identity credit.
