Hecuba, by Euripides; translation by Kardan & Street, is a relatively contemporary translation of the classical Greek play. The play takes place after the Trojan War and features an older woman as its lead. The epitome of a ghost story, Hecuba opens with Hecuba's youngest son, Polydorus, sharing the tale of his murder by their family's trusted friend, Polymestor.

In a world where women continue to be commoditized, Hecuba takes a stand. She does not win the war, but she goes down fighting.
