Good afternoon, Earthlings!
This is your reminder that our very first MUSAS meeting of the semester will be next Monday, September 12th from 5-6PM. Join us in the Physics Lounge (room 236) to design some awesome posters and possibly t-shirts for use during the year as well as do some planning for a potential club trip to a Dark Sky or similar location.
Besides our regular upcoming meeting, we're also hosting the first stargazing night, with many more planned throughout the year! Next Friday, September 16th, we'll be taking a little drive out to the Missouri River access at Eagle Bluffs to make some naked-eye observations, check out some 'scope views, and do a little astrophotography starting at 8PM. (The coordinates to the state park are 38*51'28" N, 92*27'12" W; we'll talk more about the location and carpooling opportunities at the Monday meeting or feel free to reach out to an officer if you have any questions about the site.)
Lastly, don't forget, every Wednesday from 8-10PM (weather permitting, visit the Laws Observatory Facebook page to check) there is open viewing of Earth's moon, seasonal planets, and other visible objects like the space craft X-37B and Jovian moons in Laws Observatory, on top of the physics building (5th floor).
We hope to see you sometime this week (especially Monday!), doing a little astronomy!
