Good habits are hard to form and bad ones are even harder to break. One of the most counterproductive habits is procrastination. We’ve all experienced procrastination that gets in the way of achieving our goals because we either put off or delay in getting started on a task or project. Procrastination is often thought of as an issue of time management or willpower, but research suggests that its contributors are confusion, discomfort and distraction. The goal of this workshop is to help you think of habits as small, daily decisions and actions that can build success in your careers and personal life. And, yes, take control of procrastination. We will walk you through a three-step process to identify the habits you need to succeed to reach an important goal that you’ve set for yourself. The workshop will begin with a mini-lecture to introduce the topic followed by participants completing a habit audit to inventory and evaluate your habits and then joining in group discussion. Lunch will be provided.
"Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity. This is one reason why meaningful change does not require radical change. Small habits can make a meaningful difference by providing evidence of a new identity. And if a change is meaningful, it is actually big. That's the paradox of making small improvements."
