Mission
The purpose of the Psychiatry Interest Group is to spark and nurture relationships between students and psychiatry faculty that facilitate discussion, field exploration, and mentorship. We hope to educate the MU-SOM & Columbia communities on topics in psychiatry and mental illness through lecture series, seminars and topics-specific events. This will hopefully reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness through awareness campaigns, outreach projects, and discussions with peers. Finally we hope to facilitate exploration and innovation in psychiatry through sharing and participation in research and professional development in psychiatry.

Membership Benefits
As members, we hope students will gain a better understanding into this particular specialty in the field of medicine. Also through events hosted on campus, we strive to decrease the stigma behind mental illness and make students more comfortable about these hard topics.
