Happy Fall!
You may have noticed some changes within the Lower Level of the Student Center. We would like to share a quick update about changes to Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP) services and the space that previously housed the RSVP Center. Since many students and staff were familiar with the RSVP space, questions may have arisen about where these services are now located and how to access them.
What happened to the RSVP Center?
Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention services have not gone away. Instead, they have been integrated into other Student Health & Well-Being spaces in order to streamline the process of accessing support or education.
- Outreach and education: RSVP outreach and education is now housed within the Wellness Resource Center (WRC), alongside health educators focused on a variety of health and well-being topics. The RSVP Health Educator oversees outreach and education efforts related to interpersonal violence.
- Case management and clinical support: Case management and clinical support related to interpersonal violence are now provided through the Counseling Center, located on the 4th floor of Strickland Hall. This creates a more simplified way for students to access case management, crisis support, and therapy in one location. Services can be accessed by calling The Counseling Center at 573-882-6601.
For questions related to RSVP outreach or education services, you can reach out to rsvpoutreach@missouri.edu. Please note: this inbox is not confidential and is monitored by a mandated reporter.
What is in the former RSVP Center space?
The Care and Basic Needs Center has moved into the space that previously housed RSVP services. Bringing Care Team case managers and Basic Needs Coordinators together in one office will make it easier for students to access these services in one location. The space will also house the Basic Needs Closet, along with a satellite Tiger Pantry!
Please keep in mind, The Care and Basic Needs Center is not a confidential office and the case managers within this space are mandated reporters.
How can you help?
If a friend or fellow student asks for more information or needs support, you can connect them with the appropriate office rather than trying to provide all of the details on your own.
With fall being a time when reports of sexual assault tend to increase on college campuses, it is especially important for students to know where they can access appropriate services and support. Please help share these changes with friends and peers so that more Tigers know where to turn when they need help.
Thank you for helping make Mizzou a safe and supportive community for everyone!
With care,
Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention
