As a sustainability advocate, you toss your plastic bottles in the recycling bin, but ever wonder what happens from there?

This small-group field trip will visit the City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility for a guided tour of the landfill, recycling facility, and bioreactor. The educational tour consists of an up-close look at the daily landfill operations, environmental control systems, composting, and recycling best practices. If you want a behind the scenes look at waste systems in action, this interactive tour is for you!

We will provide transportation from (and back to) the Student Center for registered participants. The shuttle will leave from the Hitt Street Visitor Lot (just on the North side of the Student Center) right at 1:30 PM.
