There are hundreds of researchers at Mizzou, each working on important and interesting research and creative projects. Besides googling websites, how do you find out about what all these people are studying? Let us introduce you to some of these folks! In this series of panel discussions, Exploring Research Communities @ Mizzou will bring together a small group of Mizzou faculty who work on a similar topic, but approach it from very different directions. Faculty will discuss their research topics and what students in their labs might expect.

In this panel, the unifying theme is 'Bones.' In terms of their growth, repair, and what they can tell us about history, Mizzou faculty will share the diverse research questions they are pursuing:

  • Dr. Casey Holiday (Pathology & Anatomical Sciences, Biological Sciences), research area: ecology and evolution of vertebrate skeletal systems in archasaurs (birds, crocodiles, dinosaurs)
  • Dr. Carol Ward (Pathology & Anatomical Sciences, Anthropology), research area: evolution of apes and early hominins
  • Dr. Aaron Stoker (Orthopaedic Surgery), research area: diagnosis and treatment of osteoarthritis
  • Dr. Charlotte Phillips (Biochemistry), research area: genetics and development of inherited connective-tissue disorders
  • Dr. Trent Guess (Physical Therapy), research area: computation biomechanics and Director of MU Motion Analysis Lab
  • Dr. Sheila Grant (Biomedical Engineering), research area: nanomaterials to help restore diseased/damaged tissue
