There are hundreds of researchers at Mizzou, each working on important and interesting research and creative projects. Besides googling websites, how do you find out about what all these people are studying? Let us introduce you to some of these folks! In this series of panel discussions, Exploring Research Communities @ Mizzou will bring together a small group of Mizzou faculty who work on a similar topic, but approach it from very different directions. Faculty will discuss their research topics and what students in their research groups might expect.

In this panel, the unifying theme is 'Missouri!' Mizzou faculty will share the diverse research questions they are pursuing:

  • Dr. Sean Franzel (School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures). German immigration to Missouri and the Midwest.
  • Dr. Meghan Murph (School of Music, Director of the Budds Center for AmericanMusic Studies). Under-represented Missouri musicians and composers.
  • Dr. Todd VanPool (Anthropology). Archaeology of ancient North America.
  • Dr. Gary Kremer (History, Director of the State Historical Society of Missouri). Missouri history!
  • Dr. Bill Horner (Truman School of Government and Public Affairs). Missouri politics.
  • Dr. Kathleen Miller (Truman School of Government and Public Affairs). Rural policy research and Missouri economic development.
