Welcome Week Leaders (WWL) are a student leadership role designed to welcome new Mizzou students to the University of Missouri - Columbia. WWLs guide an assigned group of incoming students throughout Mizzou's Welcome Week, accompanying them to various activities, sharing meals, and discussing all things related to Mizzou.
Serving as a WWL offers a valuable opportunity for both emerging and experienced leaders. This role allows you to learn more about the campus, expand your leadership journey at Mizzou, and grow your university network.
Important Dates:
- Mandatory In-Person Training: Sunday, August 17 to 19, 2025 from 9 am to 5 pm (meals provided)
- Welcome Week: Wednesday, August 20 to Sunday 24, 2025*
*you will not be working the entire time. Individual schedule depends on signature events and small group needs/interest. There will be ligher days for you to accomplish personal tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Complete asynchronous training materials on Canvas throughout the summer.
- Attend and engage during Mandatory In-Person Training from Sunday, August 17 to Tuesday, August 19.
- Help your small group navigate the Welcome Week experience by attending events with them, discussing campus resources, and sharing meals (dining access provided).
- Foster a welcoming and positive environment for incoming students and help get them excited about Mizzou.
- Abide by University policies.
Lead a Small Group:
All Welcome Week Leaders will be responsible for leading a small group of incoming Tigers throughout the experience. Most of these groups will contain incoming undergraduate students. Some of our incoming Tigers will be transfers, off-campus, or graduate students, but there is only a limited opportunity to lead these groups. The majority of our Welcome Week Leaders are supporting our incoming, freshman students!

Program Conflicts:
Students participating in programs that require a substantial commitment during Welcome Week are not eligible to be Welcome Week Leaders due to the scheduling conflicts of these programs and the time commitment asked of Welcome Week Leaders.
Programs include:
PHA Recruitment, IFC Recruitment, Marching Mizzou, BIOME Figs, and ROTC programs.
If you are a member or participant of these programs but would like to be a Welcome Week Leader, please communicate with the respective program's leadership to ensure they are willing to allow you to skip events to serve as a WWL.
