As a members of HLSA we get to surround ourselves we fellow Hispanic students and attorneys who work towards advancing the recognition and leveling the playing field for equal oportunities for the Hispanic members of our society. We get to visit with them, listen to their personal and professional experiences, and participate along with other Law Schools in Missouri in mentoring programs with the Hispanic Bar Association of St. Louis.

The Balkan Student Association at the University of Missouri, Columbia, is dedicated to creating a strong, inclusive community for Balkan students and those interested in Balkan culture. Our mission is to provide a welcoming space where students can celebrate their heritage, connect with peers, and support one another through cultural, social, and professional opportunities. We aim to empower first-generation and all Balkan students by offering resources for academic and career success, engaging in meaningful volunteer work, and creating a “home away from home” at the University of Missouri. Through our events and initiatives, we strive to promote Balkan cultural awareness, unity, and lasting connections within the university and beyond.

Members would gain benefits such as cultural and community engagement, where they would participate in traditional balkan celebrations, music nights, and food tastings. As well as that, they could network with older or peer balkan professionals where they can give them advice about their future academic and/or career goals. We would connect with other Balkan organizations where we may get together for social opportunities, to unite Balkans around Missouri together. Also, we would have multiple scholarships and grant information available for these students, and allow for members to get help with coursework from fellow members in similar fields of study if needed. There would be exclusive discounts and perks from Balkan companies in the future, where they could be a potential sponsor for us! Lastly, we would advocate for Balkan student interests, as well as promoting the club and have students aware that Mizzou is more diverse with this club!

Cambio Center

Established in 2004, the MU Cambio Center leads research and outreach on Latines, immigrant integration, and communities undergoing demographic change. To understand processes of integration and support changing communities, the Center leads interdisciplinary research that spans fields as diverse as psychology, community development, economics, health, education, human development and family studies, history, language acquisition, and law. To ensure that research is useful to communities and their leaders, Cambio Center outreach efforts bring together academics and practitioners to discuss findings and exchange best practices. The Cambio Center advances this work both at the university and throughout the region by organizing the annual Cambio de Colores conference, the premiere conference on immigrant integration in new destination areas, and through its network of over 56 Faculty Fellows and 22 Student Fellows.

Monthly general body meetings, which focus on cultural topics, activities, and have an emphasis on exposure to facets of Japanese culture that are often overlooked in the US. Along with general body meetings, there are social meetings, which are laid-back events with an emphasis on community and building lasting relationships between members. We also attend Mizzou-led cultural events throughout the year and announce them accordingly. Overall, we are passionate about creating a more accessible avenue to learn Japanese, maintain study groups, participate in the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test), and create a welcome environment for international students.
