This small-group field trip will visit the City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility for a guided tour of the landfill, recycling facility, and bioreactor. The educational tour consists of an up-close look at the daily landfill operations, environmental control systems, recycling programs, and recycling best practices. If you want a behind the scenes look at sustainable systems in action, this interactive tour is for you!
We will provide transportation from (and back to) the Student Center for registered participants. The shuttle will leave from the Hitt Street Visitor Lot (just on the North side of the Student Center) right at 1:30 PM.

Zero Waste Week
This event is part of Zero Waste Week. Zero Waste Week is a thematic series of programming taking place between November 2 and November 9 that focuses on the topic of waste and waste reduction. From film screenings to field trips, speaker panels to campus clean ups, Zero Waste Week is an opportunity for students to learn more about critical sustainability challenges while also actively working towards solutions. Zero Waste Week is a collaboration between Sustain Mizzou, Campus Facilities, and the Center for Student Involvement and supported by other MU programs, schools, and departments.
