Our beneficiaries

At Theta Chapter, philanthropy is a key component of who we are. Unlike other sororities we get the privilege to volunteer with our beneficiaries and are able to see the true impact of what we are doing. Our philanthropy efforts give us the ability to support beneficiaries locally and nationally. We have partnered with Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center, they are located in the Columbia area and provide equine therapy to those with physical, mental, and emotional challenges. Additionally, we send volunteers there four times a week to walk with the riders and help out around the farm.

Nationally, Kappa Kappa Gamma supports Mental Health and Wellbeing, each chapter is able to vote on which beneficiary they would specifically like to support. We support the JED foundation, who protects the emotional health and prevents suicide for teens and young adults in the United States. Kappa also has a partnership with TalkSpace where you can talk or text a licensed therapist. Through this Theta Chapter is trying to reduce the stigma of mental health.

Our philanthropy

To raise money for our three beneficiaries we host the Kappa Klassic, which is our annual golf tournament. The first weekend is during Fall Supporters Weekend when you can golf, or caddy for any of your friends or family members who would like to participate.

The second weekend is the Fraternity Klassic where many of the fraternities on campus create teams to compete in our golf tournament and the Kappas caddy for them.

Our second event that takes place in the spring is our pickleball tournament, Matches for Mental Health.
