Co-Founder & President
Sonya is currently a sophomore at Mizzou, double majoring in elementary education and Spanish. She grew up in Minnesota dancing competitively at several studios throughout the Twin Cities, training in jazz, tap, ballet, musical theater, hip hop, and pom/high kick. Tap has always been Sonya's favorite style, having had the opportunity to compete tap solos and take class from several well known tap dancers. She was also a member of the Keane Sense of Rhythm Tap Ensemble in the fall of 2024. She has continued her pursue her passion for tap by co-founding TC, while also teaching tap and choreographing for the competition team at Dancearts of Columbia.

Marin is a sophomore journalism student at Mizzou. Originally from Dallas, Texas, she trained for 15 years at Stacia’s School of Dance, where she studied tap, jazz, ballet, and other dance styles. She began competing at the age of eight and developed a lifelong passion for dance and performance. In addition to her studio training, Marin choreographed productions for her high school theater department, including Mamma Mia! and Mean Girls. She currently teaches dance at Dancearts of Columbia and is an active member of Kappa Delta.
Sonya and Marin started at Mizzou in the fall of 2025, having met at tap class at Dancearts of Columbia. Knowing how passionate both of them were about tap and not seeing any opportunities on campus to share this passion with a larger Mizzou community, Sonya came up with the idea of starting a student org. After presenting the idea to Marin and her enthusiastically being on board, they began brainstorming the club's vision and completing the necessary steps to become a recognized student org on campus. TC became recognized in the spring semester of 2026, accomplishing to host two workshops, perform in St.Louis at National Dance Week, and guest perform in the Catalyst dance concert through the theatre department, all just in its first semester. This is just the beginning, and we are so excited for what's to come!
