Alpha Phi Gamma

Authentic and close-knit sisterhood for women to embrace their identities and foster their leadership

Our Purpose

The purpose of Alpha Phi Gamma is to bring together all women of different nationalities through the bonds of friendship and sisterhood. Through service and Asian Awareness, our Eta chapter builds engaged community members who are leaders and advocates both on and off the University's campus. We exist to create a welcoming environment for women to explore their identities and grow confidence in navigating their personal and professional lives.

Our Values

What our Sisters exemplify in every aspect of their lives

Academic Excellence

APhiG celebrates the scholarly and professional accomplishments of all our sisters. We understand that first and foremost we are students of the University. Our sisters always strive to be our best selves in the classroom and have consistently achieved high honors.

Personal Development

APhiG is a space for young women to explore and embrace their identities as it relates to all degrees of diversity. Our sisterhood allows us to learn from each other as we become strong, independent, and productive women in our college careers and beyond.

Leadership

APhiG strives to make a difference in all the communities we reach. Through service and Asian-Awareness, we push our sisters to be involved  and create change in their own lives. We are leaders within our organization, throughout campus, and in the surrounding communities and beyond.

Why APhiG : "From Then to Now"

I joined APhiG because I wanted a strong sense of community and a home away from home. I was looking for a place where I could find support, form meaningful connections, and be part of a group that shares similar values and goals. APhiG offered that safe space where I could grow, make lifelong friendships, and give back to my community. It’s been so much more than just an organization to me—it’s truly a family that I can always rely on

I decided to join Alpha Phi Gamma because it truly reflects my values of diversity, advocacy, and sisterhood. As someone who cares deeply about cultural awareness and personal growth, I was drawn to the sorority’s focus on empowering women from all backgrounds while promoting academic success and community involvement. I wanted to be part of a supportive network that encourages leadership, gives back, and helps me grow—not just as a student, but as a person. Alpha Phi Gamma felt like the perfect place for me to connect with like-minded women and make a positive impact in both my life and the community.

Fall 2023, Alpha Gamma “Dãughters of Γαῖα.”

I joined APhiG because I wanted to find a sense of community on campus. I struggled with making friends and wanted an opportunity to be around girls who also had similar interests that I had. After getting to know the girls I knew that APhiG was so much more than a sorority, but truly a family. I don’t regret joining and have met some of my closest friends through this organization.

I chose APhiG to reconnect with my culture and find a group of people with similar interests and values. APhiG was a home for me throughout college, and I am grateful for all the experiences I had through this Sisterhood.

APhiG has given me sisters I can rely on for support and opportunities to learn more about cultures beyond my own. My sisters allowed me to grow in ways I never expected and I’ll forever be grateful for that!

Why APhiG is always such an important question for me because there is always such a multitude of reasons. I chose APhiG and continue to choose them because they were so warm and welcoming. All I had to do was just show up and be myself. They have held me together so many times and continue to be my biggest cheerleaders in life. They have shown me so much love and support in anything that I do, and continue to believe in me even if I don’t believe in myself. They push me and challenge me in ways that are so important in my development as a person. They are also some of the most badass womxn I have ever met. I am inspired by them day in and day out by the way they approach life with such joy and determination. APhiG will always be my home I go back to remind myself that I am loved and cared for and can do whatever I want. It is such a privilege to always be able to come home 💕

Fall 2016, Pi “Pride”

I joined Alpha Phi Gamma because I wanted to find a close knit community of asian women on campus. Being away from home was hard and I knew I wanted something more deep and meaningful than what I saw elsewhere. Additionally, the sorority allowed me to grow confidence and leadership skills that I desired as someone who wanted to become less introverted than in high school. The safe space created as we bonded over our asian american experience is something I will forever be grateful.

Fall 2022, Alpha Beta “Ba S!ng Se”

I chose to join APhiG because I didn’t have a close knit community before I came to college. APhiG was very welcoming and shared many cultural traits that allowed me to also share my background. APhiG also created a safe environment where I was able to share my academic and personal struggles. One thing I admire about APhiG is that they prioritize academics to ensure their members succeed.

Fall 2021, Alpha Alpha “Legends of Avalon”

I chose Alpha Phi Gamma because having grown up in a predominantly white neighborhood, I really wanted to find a community where I could connect with others who shared similar experiences and values to me. During recruitment, I immediately felt at home among the sisters and other potential new members and that sense of belonging has only grown stronger over time. Even after graduating, I've continued to stay close to many of my sisters and have even formed bonds with sisters I've met post-grad.

Fall 2012, Nu “Narwhal”

I chose to join APhiG because of the people. Sisters in APhiG became my chosen family. We looked out for each other and supported each other. I never thought of myself as the type to join a sorority, but I found Sisters who would be by my side, even past college.
